About SPANS
SPANS is a web-based system which utilizes a highly configurable ASP.net and SQL Server architecture to efficiently manage the inter-company communication flows for both joint use pole attachment projects and joint trench projects. SPANS' database configurability allows communication flows, terminology, attributes, picklists, data validation and data relationships to be tailored to the specific needs of participating companies. SPANS addresses the full lifecycle of joint use project types including attachment requests, joint trench participation, transfer notifications, code violations, and over 20 other specific activities.
SPANS Release 1 debuted in the fall of 2006. SPANS Version 2, which incorporates an integrated pole database and additional activity types, was released in mid 2008. There are currently fourteen companies actively using SPANS in two geographically separate implementations covering nine states.
